Chamber considering name change to PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy
19 Dec 2022
The Papua New Guinea Chamber of Mines and Petroleum has announced that it is considering a name change to PNG Chamber of Resource and Energy (PNG Core) to better reflect the change in the commodities produced by the sector in PNG.
PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum President Anthony Smaré made this announcement during the 16th Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference and Exhibition staged at the Hilton, Sydney Australia from 5th to 7th December 2022.
The Chamber’s governing council settled for the name change on the backdrop of the evolving industry developments that have transitioned the resource and energy sectors over the past few years and will recommend this change to its members for approval.
“The Governing Council of the Chamber has resolved to change its name to the PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy (PNG CORE) to encompass a better representation of the industry that it represents, and the exports that its members will be exporting to the world.” Mr. Smaré remarked.
In keeping with the changing dynamics of industry trends, Mr Smaré said the Governing Council deeply reflected on the name change to re-purpose and re-position the Chamber to effectively conduct its role representing and convening the industry and its various stakeholders.
