The 16th PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference and Exhibition was held from December 5-7th in Sydney Australia. There were over 60 speakers sharing their stories with more than 1,000 attendees across the 3-day event as well as over 70 exhibiting companies. The media coverage in international and PNG media was unprecedented.
2022 PNG Resource’s Industry Media Workshop
The PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum Resource Industry Media workshop is designed as a direct industry-to-media engagement campaign aimed at educating PNG media on industry etiquette. The 2022 PNGCMP MW will focus on the theme PNG Resources: Securing the next wave of responsible investment
The 2021 PNG Mining and Petroleum conference and Exhibition, represents an opportunity for Industry and the Government to provide to shareholders, stakeholders, potential investors and the general public, direct project updates. More critically, with the impact of COVID-19 on industry, this is an opportunity to hear firsthand from leading Senior Industry Executives, how projects have continued to operate effectively in the ‘new normal’. High Profile speakers of the event; Prime Minister James Marape, who presented on the Government of PNG’s plans for the resource sector, as well as Kevin Gallagher, of Santos on “Creating a Regional Champion with a PNG focus” Senator Hon. Zed Seselja, Minister for International Development and the Pacific provided an Australian Government perspective on the importance of the Resource Sector to both Papua New Guinea, and Australia. The PNG Mining and Petroleum Conference is a forum for industry and stakeholders, and Government to network, discuss business opportunities and policy matters and establish new business relationships.

This Investment Conference was the first event to showcase PNG’s investment opportunities to the world and has provided an international audience with comprehensive information on PNG’s mining and oil and gas industry for over two decades.
The PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum hosts conferences and workshops to provide its Members, Government, the business community, and other stakeholders updates on the mining and petroleum industry, and discuss issues of mutual concern.
Mining Projects
Papua New Guinea has a well-established mining industry, attracting investment from many of the world’s leading mining companies.
The Chamber held the annual workshop in 2018 which provided a platform for the resource industry, Government, landowner companies and associations, and community-based organisations to discuss initiatives, challenges and share ideas on community affairs best practices.
Extractive Industry Emergency Response Challenge
The PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum hosted the 2017 Extractive Industries Emergency Response Challenge (EIERC) from 2nd – 4th October at the PNG Maritime College in Madang. There were more than 200 participants and many of the participating teams came from the respective mining and petroleum projects.
